The damages module is meant for penalizing drivers for slow lap times. Slow lap times could for example happen if a driver crashes out and has to put their car on the track again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The damages system works basically like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The driver exceeds the configured lap time<\/strong> &#8211; SmartRace inflicts a random damage on them, meaning there is a voice over and a damage icon on the race screen next to the position number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If they don&#8217;t repair the damage within the configured time<\/strong> (which means they have to enter the pits and wait until the damage icon disappears), they will be scored as DNF (did not finish) automatically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If they do enter the pits and have the damage repaired<\/strong>, they can go on normally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If they don&#8217;t repair the damage before the end of the race<\/strong>, they will also be scored as DNF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"gb-block-image gb-block-image-1199bced\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1988\" height=\"146\" class=\"gb-image gb-image-1199bced\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smartrace-scx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/damages.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"damages\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smartrace-scx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/damages.png 1988w, https:\/\/www.smartrace-scx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/damages-300x22.png 300w, https:\/\/www.smartrace-scx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/damages-1024x75.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.smartrace-scx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/damages-768x56.png 768w, https:\/\/www.smartrace-scx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/damages-1536x113.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1988px) 100vw, 1988px\" \/>\n<figcaption class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-6f30383a gb-headline-text gb-headline-5ee97e49\">Andi suffered from a damage.<\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Damages can be enabled from the &#8220;New Race&#8221; dialog. If you enable damages by setting the toggle, you also have to set up the following options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-a17feb81 gb-headline-text\">Configuration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Necessary Pitstop Duration (seconds)<\/strong> &#8211; how long it should take for a damage to get repaired in the pit lane.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Damaged not repaired: retirement time<\/strong> &#8211; if a driver suffers from a damage they can go on for this amount of seconds until they will be retired from the race.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Automatic damages for exceeding lap times If you don&#8217;t like penalties so much or would like to spice up races without imposing penalties, you can use the damages module.
